Summary
This person is a proven leader who demonstrates strong judgment and reasoning abilities. She or he leads project teams on any /all phases of development including Pre-Design, Schematic Design, Design Development, Construction Documents and Construction Administration.

Junior and Mid-Level Designers and Job Captains
Education
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) from a 4 year CIDA accredited interior design program preferred or Associates Degree from a 2 year CIDA accredited Interior Design program with commensurate experience.
Experience
Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in hospitality design an absolute requirement
NCIDQ certification preferred
Experience in
(Recent- 5 years) Hotel renovation and/or new construction
Defining scope of work, project scheduling, budgeting and fee proposal preparation
Implementation/project production for all phases
Responsibilities include
Envision the project holistically by capturing the intended ‘look and attitude’ that reflects branding and positioning
Set initial design direction for the project and make critical decisions through project completion
Consistently adheres to established industry and DDA processes and procedures
Prepare detailed construction documents, floor plans, FF&E specifications, materials and finishes within budget and on time
Lead design teams on multiple projects, deliverables and scheduling of tasks.
Train, coach mentor and inspire design staff.
Act as client liaison and make presentations

Hotel industry terminology and operational needs
Design industry trends in the Luxury and Upscale hotel sector
Building Codes and ADA requirements
Contract Quality specifications
Major manufacturers and their products, fabrication techniques and finish requirements
Lighting as a design element, lighting types, applications, energy requirements & light spread
Skills
Hand sketching and space planning
Custom furniture and carpet design
Able to design ‘around corners’ not just major areas-so spaces flow consistently
AutoCad proficient
MS Office Suite proficient
Photoshop– a plus
Microsoft Project-preferred
Models a highly organized approach to the design process resulting in on time, on budget deliverables
